Lesvia
Since the 1970s, lesbians from all over the world have been drawn to the island of Lesbos, the birthplace of the ancient Greek poet Sappho. In the following decades, an active lesbian community developed in the coastal village of Eressos. Even though most of the locals showed solidarity with the women over the years, there were always conflicts with conservative villagers who felt threatened by the lesbians.
